Smartax mt882 Modem

Posted on 00:41 by Unknown
* Is a Router/Modem.
* When trying to install using the USB connection you may get a message telling you to uninstall the USB Drivers. If that happens the steps are:
From the Windows 'Start' menu.
Right click 'My computer'.
Select 'Properties'.
Then the 'Hardware' tab.
Then 'Device Manager'.
Expand the 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
In turn, right click on each 'Root Hub' and 'Controller' selecting 'Uninstall.
When you have uninstalled all of them run the TalkTalk setup disk again.
Alternatively, you may try these USB Drivers SmartAX MT882 Drivers (to USB)
* Both USB and LAN can be used at the same time enabling two PC's to run off the Router/Modem.
* The software in the Router/Modem has a default Username and Password. These are reset to your Username and Password when you set up using the setup disk.
* If the Router/Modem is switched off at the plug, or the 'Reset button' is pressed, the default Username and Password are reinstated. Thus preventing connection to the Internet.
* If the default Username and Password in the Router/Modem are reinstated it is not necessary to reinstall with the setup disk.
* The default Username and Password in the Router/Modem allow the PC to connect to a page on the server.
Resetting the Username and Password in the Router/Modem.
* If, like myself, you switch off the bank of plugs to the PC etc. At night.
After installing your modem fom the TalkTalk 'Setup' CD
Open up your Browser and type in http://192.168.1.1/ (If you are using just the USB connection you may need to try http://192.168.1.2/ )
The Username and Password for the Page you are accessing, in the Modem/Router, are admin admin .
The page that displays shows the settings of your smartax mt882 Router/Modem.
Expand the 'Basic' submenu on the left hand menu and select 'WAN Settings'.
Click the Pencil icon that is on the top right (next to the dustbin).
Locate and change the default Username and Password (shown on the right hand side) to your TalkTalk Username and Password.
Saving your settings
Once it is working
Click the 'Save All' button found at the bottom of the left hand menu.
The Modem/Router is now set for your TalkTalk Username and Password.
